With the pandemic of COVID-19, and stay at home orders in full swing, there has been a sudden surge in searches for how to make coffee at home. One of the top searches, and a question that I get often, is how to make the coffee stronger. There are basically three things that you can control as you brew your coffee in order to affect how strong it is.
The first, and easiest thing to do is to change the ratio of coffee grounds to water. If you want stronger coffee, either add more grounds or less water. Play around with the ratio a bit to find the level that suits you.
The second thing you can do is change your roast. A darker roast is going to tend to have a bolder flavor. Of course, the darker roast will also mask the unique flavors of each coffee, which includes covering up flaws.
Finally, you can try a different brewing method. A full immersion brew, like a french press, will give a bolder flavor to the coffee.
